Setlling in!
Its been 4 months in England and still settling in! Our personal items arrived in the country this month & I have the pleasure of unpacking 100 boxes! How can 2 people have so much!!
Have finally gotten used to the driving, though wouldnt get into the car without my "navvie" (statnav). The roundabouts do require some skill (saw an accident today on my way to work on the roundabout I was going thru), the traffic jams on the motorway are special, I was in 1st gear on a 5 lane motorway for 20mins!! The cost of living is still a challenge & life with a different cultural mix is exciting!!
England is a melting pot of all its colonies, so the ethnic mix is quite diverse & certainly very different to Australia!! It seems like every place they've conquered, visited, or explored is represented here!
Been to London a few times & had to do some shopping in the famous Harrods & Harvey Nichols stores. They've certainly relaxed their dressed code, since the last time I was here! (Jeans are now allowed!)
Well I have a story for you - I decided to treat myself & have lunch in Harrods after shopping! On its menu for gourmet pizza's was half a dozen pizza's which were priced at, wait for it, £100!! Yes AUD$250!! Luckily my lasagne was cheaper, though my glass of red, was the equivalent of a very nice bottle from Margaret River!! In shock I pulled out my camera (yes still feel like a tourist, so carry it everywhere!) & took a photo of the menu!! (I will upload shortly!) The couple next to me saw this & so we started chatting, discussing the phenomenal cost of living in the UK!! Was sharing our fantastic standard of living that everyone can experience in Australia!!
Well, still loving Windsor, great move to locate here, its just so beuatiful, all that an English village should be & it has great shops!! (Castle displayed here!)
Very much looking forward to September, as the husband is finally coming over!! My mum is also coming over in a week & we have a huge family reunion, with my cousin getting married!! So with David coming over, the travelling stories will begin!!!
Ah, guess what, went out for my cousins hen's night & they think I'm a rager & that I quite like a tipple!! Well they havent met the aussies, if they think I'm outrageous!... & these are young'uns!!
...well more stories, photos to come!!
